Muslim Day At The Capitol, 2020!

Hello Everyone!

I hope this message of LOVE finds you well!

Yesterday, I was privileged with the opportunity to go to the State Capitol and volunteer with the Interfaith Alliance of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Conference of Churches to assist Oklahoma's Muslim community as they attended special events and got to meet with their legislators during the annual Muslim Day At The Capitol. This year was the sixth consecutive year for this event. I had heard about previous years, and the harassment caused by demonstrators protesting the event, and I was fully prepared to combat their hatred with a whole lot of LOVE. Fortunately, there was no need for combative thoughts and preparation because not one single protestor had shown up to the Capitol. Not one! What a victory!

As Christians, we have been charged by Jesus to LOVE our neighbor, and I believe that means more than just the person who lives next door. For me, the description of neighbor refers to ALL of God's creation, ALL people, regardless of their location on the planet, their nationality or race, or even their religious beliefs. When Jesus says to LOVE our neighbor, He means to LOVE ALL of humanity. Yesterday I experienced that Divine LOVE and genuine goodness.

When Jesus called us to LOVE our neighbor, he did not tell us that we had to agree with them about everything. Jesus did not say LOVE only those people that look, act, and think like you. NO! He said to LOVE our neighbor as ourselves. Maybe that is why there is so much hatred in the world. Maybe the people that can't LOVE their neighbor just don't LOVE themselves.

What are your thoughts on the idea? How do you LOVE your neighbor? Who do you think your neighbor is?

Please join me in this important conversation by leaving comments or sending me an email with your thoughts. I would LOVE to hear from ALL who wish to share their thoughts and ideas.

Until next time,

Grace, Peace, and LOVE!
