Long Time, No Talk!

Hello Everybody!!!

It sure has been a long time since I got on here and shared anything with you all. Part of that is because of life, part of it is because I get lazy sometimes, and the last part of it is because I was having serious trouble trying to log into my account. Now that I have the last part figured out, I can get to work and get this conversation moving.

Life has changed considerably over the last couple of years, for me and I am sure for you too. In May 2019 I finished my undergraduate degree at the University of Central Oklahoma where I majored in History and earned a minor in Race and Ethnic Studies. That fall, I began my journey at Phillips Theological Seminary, working on a Master of Divinity in the hopes of becoming an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). During this same time frame, I have become way more politically active than I was before I began this project. I'm even running for school board in my children's school district.

One of the biggest issues I faced over the last year was the loss of my Grandfather. My Grandpa Jeff was an amazing human and losing him has taken a lot out of me. He was my mentor, my friend, and the person I could talk to about ANYTHING. His wisdom has been missed, but I still feel his presence guiding me when I come to a particularly difficult spot along my life's journey. As I said in his eulogy, he is my lighthouse.

A major blessing from the last year is definitely my trip to London. I travelled to London with a small group of students and professors from UCO and we conducted primary source research in the many archives across the London Metropolitan Area. I focused my research on a man named White Kennett, and that research led me to present my findings at two international conferences.

OK, enough with the small talk! It is nice to be back on here again. My goal for the blog this year is to have at least one post every two weeks. Please do me a favor and hold me accountable. Message me and ask me where the new post is. Call or text and let me know you want to get the conversations started. Share my page and keep coming back. But the most important part of all of this effort is to be good, and be good to each other!
